No. Trixie’s a great foil because she’s sort of like Reggie Mantle from the Archie Comics: She’s a conceited jerk but she sincerely does care about her friends, so she can be a source of comedy (from her jerk side), a source of comfort (from her caring side), or a source of harsh truths (from both sides) :D
I could see Discord go to EQG to get Sunset for something and freak her out.
I literally I don’t have an appeal with Starlight and Discord they don’t use their magic skills. Starlight human design is beautiful, but defeating Juniper with words, ughh, Not Starlight business.
I don’t really get while Glimmer and Discord can’t reunite with Trixie and Fluttershy in EQG. Maybe they don’t want to make the characters too similar to FiM.
But Starlight has the original Trixie, despite EG Trixie was so funny is this special.
I think it fit right in; Trixie understood what Sunset was going through, had been established long beforehand to want to be thought of in a particular way (since before Sunset even existed), and empathized with her, a friendship forming naturally as a result.
If anything was shoehorned in, it was the pointless, unneeded rainbow beam at the end, especially since there was no reason Wallflower couldn’t have erased all their memories if she wanted to (like she did with literally the entire school) rather than sitting there like a dolt. But I guess that wouldn’t have been as exciting or let Hasbro market more doll outfits.
Trixie is always shoehorned in. There’s never been a need for her past Magic Duel.
Rainbow Dash is the superior blue ego pone anyway so what the hell do we need Trixie?

She was used for narration so it wouldn’t be all internal dialogue by Sunset. I thought it was perfectly acceptable, though it could have easily been Flash, Juniper, or one of the Shadowbolts. Trixie did have some really good moments here.
