If we are making comparisons to real-world horses, she might not need as much as you think. Horses and ponies are infamous in the veterinary field for not tolerating sedatives, narcotics, anesthetics, or central nervous system depressants of any kind at all well, a category which would necessarily include alcohol. Without getting into sad territory, I will just say that bad hangovers are the least of it.

By the way – I assume that Equestrian ponies, like real-world horses, have very powerful metabolisms. Which makes me wonder both (a) how potent IS Equestrian liquor, and (b) how much of it did Luna, an alicorn, have to drink to get totally drunk?
