ya know, had Sunset Shimmer not been redeemed and if so many of us (including myself, a now ex-fan of hers) hadn’t jumped on her bandwagon as so many people have with Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock, the hate for Glim Glam wouldn’t be as bad as it is-~~and has been since 2015. and I’m not talking about a mere dislike for her ~~ this is an epidemic of bubonic plague proportions that’s slowly taking its toll on the fandom! the same I say for the infatuation and blind admiration for Worst Human. :(

we’re all different people with different values who are only tangentially related through an interest in a tv series. seriously, why should there be any expectation of the fandom to agree on anything? people just complain about unpleasable fanbases because it’s an easy shot to take to claim a moral high ground; they don’t realize exactly how nonsensical a shot it really is.

that first one’s a matter of opinion: bashing on fictional characters is fun and harmless and wouldn’t cause any problems if it didn’t offend others in the first place. on that second one, have you seen what happens when someone posts a genuine criticism of suelight? it tends to trigger much bigger meltdowns than just bashing on her.

And that topic is open to criticism by people who like her. Bashing characters in general is unnecessary and serves nothing except to further fuel an already out of control fire.
 
People are allowed to have their opinions. But one should only dish out hate if they are prepared to receive it in spades. Criticism breeds criticism. It’s fine to not like a character, but open bashing will always draw fire.
 
People should have the decency to respect each other’s opinions and leave it at that. And people who hate Starlight that have been pushing images like this, after three years, are literally just doing it to jab a screwdriver into a sore spot. I’m allowed to think that’s BS. You’re allowed to think it’s funny. Neither view is wrong.

technically, as the topic of this particular image is starlight bashing, trashing on her is more apropos and on-topic to the image than liking her in this thread is. like i said it’s all relative. conversely, i don’t go into the palliation appreciation station where everyone’s trying to like her and just drop a big deuce in the middle of it.
