My “headcanon” for this is that “Kirin grove” was a unicorn colony some AGES back. However, that’s right on the threshold of Dragon territory. My headcanon says that the dragons would routinely attack the unicorns, mainly making off with their produce and things such as pillows and whatnot. An aggressive unicorn wanted to put a stop to all this and made for the dragon lair, while at the same time, a kind dragon who was wondering why they kept raiding the village made for the grove and the two met and found a middle ground that the dragons were somewhat surviving off of the unicorn produce since they were terrible at making it (like the grasshoppers in A Bugs Life). A peace was eventually established that the unicorns would portion off some of their produce in return for the dragons not attacking. Some unicorns and dragons took it farther and would openly mingle, the more peaceful dragons or more daring unicorns fitting in fairly well. Eventually it gave way to the first hybrid offsprings and the ancestors of the current Kirin. A portion of these Kirin moved to a more mid ground location between the dragons and the grove, the place being the Peaks of Peril. The rub here is that the regular life in the grove (meaning contact with other species and being in a half dragon set up environment) would lend to more easily control tempers since venting it wouldn’t, say, burn a stone home down. However in the Peaks of Peril, not much is stone, it’s all greenery, so they practiced keeping their flames subdued IE: not getting angry. Problem is that it’s like a teakettle and when something FINALLY pops, it explodes and won’t stop whistling until that heat escapes, leading to the problem of the episode.

I’m assuming that Peaks of Peril is a remote kirin colony of the main kirin civilization which lives around the grove.

Thank you. Jeepers. I need a clean shot of the peaks of peril for something I’m trying to make, yet amusingly, despite giving a 3 week head start, this is the first image relating to them at all.
