Yes they are OP. We’ve encountered way too many so-called “prodigies” to discredit them as mere one-in-a-million rarities who do not affect the statistics much. Moreover, the fact that there are magic schools for Unicorns and entire giant spell libraries all but proves that there are quite a few Unicorns with the ability to cast advanced magic; it merely takes more time for your average Unicorn to learn advanced spells than it takes for prodigies like Twilight or Starlight. With access to a spell book, even Rarity, an ordinary Unicorn with a special talent in gem finding, could easily become a city-level threat without even intentionally wanting to do any harm.
 
Not to mention, even your boring but practical telekinesis is an immense advantage with countless potential applications that far outweighs pretty much anything the Earth Ponies and the Pegasi have at their disposal.

That’s not a very strong argument, as lately we’ve had normal unicorns do pretty ridiculous things like shoot lasers or self-levitation.

“In reality” doesn’t work when MLP is not realistic in the slightest.

Problem is people think unicorns are OP. They are not. They think they’re OP (and that they’d be a unicorn in pony-verse) because the biggest unicorn reps in the show are prodigies (Twilight, Statlight, Sunset, etc). In reality, your average unicorn has limited magic linked to its cutie mark. Like Rarity.

When magic was removed, the magic of every species was removed. Pegasi and earth ponies have their own magic to worry about, so magic extinction events effect all species.  
If a unicorn can learn advanced magic, they can learn how to do things with their hooves.

As much as I enjoy being a Unicorn if I were in MLP-verse, because I like doing things easy and fast ways, even in MLP fan games where you choose the 3 races I got very far being a unicorn, but I don’t like to look down on other races.
 
Even unicorns have weaknesses, first off, the hoofs aren’t very dexterous compared to other races, without magic training, it would be useless to do almost anything, second, they can’t fly, unless with advanced magic training, it would be possible. Being a powerful unicorn requires you to be a passionate learner otherwise you are powerless, third, if magic is removed, unicorns cannot do anything, happens in Season 8 Episode 25-26.
 
Even pegasi have to learn to fly, but the flying lessons are simpler than unicorn’s magic lessons because unicorn’s magic lessons are no end to possibilities.

Powerful physical strength and actual literal earth magic that allows them to help plants grow. They may also have connections with animals as well.

No food for all those ponies. Earth ponies win in the end.
 
It’s why my OC is Earth.

As it should be. No offense to the other races, since they have their own strengths and appeal, as well.

Of course Unicorns are the best race. They can do anything the other races can do if they want to and much more.

But seriously, being an earth pony isn’t so bad. They have magic powers too. Like walking around. And picking stuff up with their teeth.
