Plus if you mean state-of-the-art technology, I think you mean gps, which requires at least 4 satellites, and Equestria doesn’t have working rockets to leunchs them, especially to
geosynchronous orbit(or gso).
If they don’t upgrade their infrastructure now, Mount Aeris will be gone way before they even get their sailors and pilots on the go!
I don’t know about that, they obviously don’t even have working light blubs you know, and I believe equestria is set in the 20th century, and trains was widely used in that century.

Which is WHY the hippogriff navy should update their naval navigation equipment with state-of-the-art electronics!
Or if they’re still interested in using star navigation, at least buy some quasar pulse detecting equipment!

Or if equestria behaves like our earth, plate tectonics, water erosion, it possible that possible that the land moves more than the stars did, over a thousand year period.
That’s an interesting bit of lore. The stars viewed from Earth do move, but incredibly slowly. The constellations we see today would’ve still been recognizable 10,000 years ago, and will still be recognizable 10,000 years from now. That Twilight believes that the positions of the stars in the Equestrian sky had changed radically since the time of the Pillars implies that Equestria’s stars move much faster than ours.
