Touché, I assumed that you were stating that it had failed to reappear at all. I would agree with your observation, though, now that I understand it… although, considering that LoM brought the idea back, and that Starswirl has returned, I am quite certain that it will become relevant.

First of all, that’s not only a spinoff comic; it’s a prequel spinoff comic, so I’m only “quite mistaken” if you’re going by publication order instead of the in-universe story.
And anyway, I didn’t say it was never mentioned again. This appears to be the reference you’re talking about:
We see him working on the spell, but it doesn’t factor into the story, and we learn nothing about the spell other than the fact that Starswirl considered the word “purpose” before he landed on “destiny”.
