Man, I made that comment forever ago. And I’ve since learned that the Nintendo company has indeed been around for over 120 years, though they of course weren’t always a video game company. Originally, Nintendo’s bread and butter was playing cards, and they were doing it even before Sherlock Holmes or Dracula were written.

Yes, Nintendo has been around since 1889 and SEGA has been around since 1940.

Nintendo’s just 50 years older than SEGA.

And Sony started in 1946 so it’s slightly younger than SEGA.

Microsoft started in 1972 and SNK started in 1973.

So Nintendo, SEGA and Sony are three of the oldest video game companies in the world with Microsoft and SNK being the youngest.

Y’know, while I’m not yet into the WiiU, (I can’t afford one) I don’t get why PC-gamers are attacking the WiiU so much. With the tablet-like “Game Pad,” they could use it like a “mouse” for strategy games, PC-style games, and such.

Same goes for “hardcore” gamers who only like classic consoles with “normal” controls, considering I think the WiiU controller looks more like a traditional controller then the Wii-mote did. (Plus they have a new “traditional” Classic controller, as well with a long battery life.)

Also, keep in mind if Nintendo didn’t experiment with controller possibilities, or try new things, we wouldn’t have the + control pad, the NES light gun Zapper, the L & R buttons, the rumble pack, the smaller thumb-controlled pressure-sensative analogue pad, and such.
Frankly, I’m glad they pretty much invented those things.

Yeah, what did Nintendo even do during the war?… Also, Kyoto is rather far away from both blast zones, right? ^ _ ^;

You’re absolutely right, they have nothing to offer…

Besides… Super Mario, Mario Kart, Metroid, Legend of Zelda, Poke’mon, Super Smash Bros., Pikmin, F-Zero, Star Fox, EarthBound, Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem, Custom Robo, Kirby, Yoshi’s Island, Mario Party, Wii Sports, Pilotwings, Ice Climber, Balloon Fight, Dr. Mario, Tetris, Duck Hunt, Wild Gunman, Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Country, Advance Wars… Goes on

Yes, that’s right. Then, over all those years, they’ve tried to get into as many ventures as possible. They were even in the arcade game industry since 1975, even if it took until 1981 for them to get their first huge hit (Donkey Kong).

Nintendo is not going to die any time soon, or even in my lifetime (in my predictions) do you know why? Its because they have so many brilliant first party franchises that pretty much anyone knows about, even if you’re a Playstation, Xbox, or PC gamer, you know at least a few of their most famous franchises.
Honestly, saying “Nintendo’s doomed” is like saying Disney is about to go bankrupt, they’re too implanted into the public mind to fail.

@Godhead
From what I heard they were actually pretty successful too.

They did start out as a playing card company if I remember right.
