Discord got completely disabled by Chrysalis’s Nullifier Throne that only allows Changeling Magic and no other magic to function.
 
Maud is expert in stones, which apparently are overpowered af. The right stones can conquer Equestria.  
Sunburst is expert in lore and arcane magic.
 
Starlight, Sunburst and Maud have some chance in at least giving Discord trouble.
 
Now, I wonder if the Mafuba (Demon Containment Wave) works on Discord…

I doubt it as Discord is one to not reveal his full hand. He technically won all but one of his encounters with others (assault on Chrysalis’ hive), albeit by using indirect methods.

He still won this one by proxy. No, not by the reversing of the mannerisms of the 6, but his plundervine seeds were STILL growing and without him playing the nice guy and forcing Twilight to double think what she should be doing, the vines would have beaten the 6.

Before it was even announced that Tirek was free, Discord showed up with a book and blatantly pointed out the 5 found keys to the chest and very likely went on a gambit to ensure Twilight got her key (which would have been to give up her offensive magic but trust in the magic of friendship). Discord gave flowers to Celestia and a wink afterwards, suggesting a secret was kept between Celestia and him.

While reformation isn’t so much a defeat as it is getting a different viewpoint on life, he still pulled this off by removing the spells from all the books that involved mind control and then abused Fluttershy’s kind spirit to NOT lock him back up. Really, he was so good, he beat himself at that own game and wanted friends.

Now, as we know, she “banished” his body off the school grounds (or vaporized it, whatever), the outcome was him instead astral projecting and STILL doing whatever he wanted, because he planned for it. Starlight’s over reliance on magic ensures Discord will always have a backup plan that Starlight isn’t expecting, as is the nature of Chaos. I honestly think he harassed her to the point that he pissed her off intentionally so she’d do some overly large display to “get rid of him” so his ghost act would have much more impact on the students, which got under Starlight’s skin in the extreme, which was his goal. Again, Discord won.
 
He only lost vs the Changeling hive due to 1: not having his magic, and 2: the changelings knowing his emotional soft spot.

Alone, no. But she has friends now. She has Sunburst and Maud at her side. They have encyclopedic knowledge on magic, lore, stones and rock.
 
The Storm King somehow got hold of minerals that can repel magic, contain magic, etc.
 
Stones, Crystals and Minerals are the most powerful things in Equestria and beyond. Starlight and Pinkie has secured complete dominance over anyone else since they’re on good terms with Maud.

Discord already has clear limitations. A way could be found.

The whole episode Starlight was trying to run the school Twilight’s way and it ended up with perma-banning Discord’s account (which he bypassed by making an alt-account) and making things worse.
 
The episode was resolved when Starlight finally decided to bend the rules, something that she usually does anyway.
 
Starlight basically did a Twilight’s “hero worship” antic, and later Starlight pulled a Starlight on herself.

Give Starlight time. If any pony can think of a way to permenently effect Discord, it’s Starlight.

Ya know, the more I think on it, the more I realize that he likely intended for her to blow her stack to show how powerless she is in comparison to him.
 
Plus it adds another layer to what is effective combat against him and evidently even if they did manage to destroy his body, he’d STILL be doing whatever he wanted.
