For being repeatedly told over and over again that; the primary focus of folks who wanted Spike to grow wings in the first place were “not Spyro fans”, I outlined guidelines to follow to ensure you don’t fall into that category and can prove me wrong.

Urk..
Thank you. I tried not to come off as too snarky and back anything i have to say up with images.
Oh I’m aware. I’m stating that the imprint, and thus, what people would draw from in memory, is that Spyro spends all of the gameplay on all fours
Biped
biped
Biped
Biped (Adult spyro tease from the original games manual)
It’s implied that in the original Spyro games that the reason that Spyro is a quadruped is due to his age and when he becomes an adult he will primary bipedal. the only time an adult dragon is shown standing on four legs is when there were in a location that due to there size, would not be able to stand up straight. In fact it’s been shown that Spyro is capable of stand up straight on his back legs in short burst.
Saying that,I’m talking about the original ps1 games (and now the remakes) as hero’s tail on words this was thrown out the window. ||this was mostly an excuse to post spyro stuff ||

I’m aware most “classical” dragons are on all fours, but this isn’t typical classical, it’s MLP and we’ve had 7 full seasons full of content to compare, and the data says that only in rare cases do these dragons run on all fours. They either stand around in a bipedal manner, walk casually in a bipedal manner, or fly everywhere.
I’m not disagreeing that quadruped movement is an option, but it’s still a rare option that MLP dragons hardly ever use, preferring flight or a bipedal stance as their “normal”.
I’m aware that the earlier toys were rather show inaccurate. I just brought the toy up because it was another depiction of Spike on all fours.
And even disregarding toy accuracy and Spyro, dragons are usually portrayed as quadrapedal. So people are more used to and like depicting them that way. And like I said earlier, there’s plenty of real life animals capable of both bipedal and quadrapedal movement so I really don’t see why MLP dragons can’t be the same (even when not going after a small earthbound target).
The very first Spike toy had him on all fours, along with Pink Princess Celestia, So accuracy there is pretty poor.
Also, read my point concerning the green dragon from Owl’s Well: “A mobility option as opposed to the rule.”
@PonyPon
A massive influx of Spike + spyro content started to cascade in because Spyro had been a “dead” IP for quite some time and some people even slapped Spyro’s horns on Spike’s head in a not-too-subtle attempt to turn Spike into Spyro.
Come the Spyro re-ignited trilogy being announced and some of that art backed off, but then re-ignited (heh) when Molt Down was leaked and advertised like mad.
I pointed this out and have been subsequently told “no, that’s not why we want Spike to have wings”. Okay then, I’ve given a very nicely laid out guide that can help artists avoid that issue.
Regardless of the answer, it’s certainly not bipedal. (I say octopedal.)
I agree, as I stated, Dragons seem to be rather adaptable and could do either (I think even Garble ran on all fours briefly during his fight with Ember in Gauntlet of Fire), but their default stance is a bipedal one, even for the red and green nameless adult dragons.
Even Ember, while sitting, doesn’t sit like a human, but rather in a canine or “bird” manner like her father.
But most everything she does is done in a bipedal manner.
I’m trying to breed awareness and to stop the influx of a 4 legged spike with lion paws:
Or otherwise looking like a Spyro expy:
Instead of making him resemble his peers while still looking cute/cool.
@MadVillain
Some of the toys depict him on all fours as well.
Found it, it doesn’t seem to uploaded here but in Feeling Pinkie Keen he runs on all fours for less than a second as their being chased by the Hydra.
Personally I don’t really prefer quadruped Spike over Bipedal or the other way around, if anything I think it’s pretty cool to have them be able to do both.
