hmmmm well this is the world where metaphysical shinanigans like that happend, after all dealer was a thing so haveing a literal ghost haunting your charicter and helping him out now and then would not be too hard to suspend disbelif for
Well I won’t kill off the mare… She helps keep Split from snapping… the filly is still going to be shot and he leaves for a bit thinking she is dead but he finds out later that she’s not… I am toying around with the idea of killing off the old Griffin in his party and basically turning him into the Mysterious stranger somehow… but I have a while before I get to that
ah i can see why they stoped you there, killing off a kid in a story is a risky gambit, in particular killing one that has a direct tie to your main charicter, advice if you need a death in this case to kick him in the flank kill the mare, not the filly still galvinizing but not monsterous
theres a reason why scotch tape was the only other survivor [well the only ‘mortal’ survivor boo kinda falls into the same plot armor that pinkie pie does] of blackjacks group even somber wasnt willing to risk that level of hate.
or if it absolutely has to be someone young you can do what was done in FoE at the end of the freindship city arc….i still sniffle when i see a picture of a nuka/sparkel cola bottle because of that

That is what my characters death was supposed to do. He starts to wind down after his accident thinking he can just go home and live with his marefriend and the filly… the filly dies and he snaps completely going off on his own and learning of what the Enclave is getting ready for and steels his resolve to put a stop to it
if an important and well loved character has to die for the narrative to work right then a simple bit of advice i can offer is ‘make it count’ make that death mean something extremely important tot he story as a whole perhaps a heroic sacrifice, or a galvanizing call to action for the other characters whatever it is if someone who has been there for most of the story has to bite it, every second of time lost with them needs must be repaid with narrative weight as much as i hated that glory did in fact die, her death did have meaning both times, where as p21…that was bullshit…truth being told everything that happend on the moon was bullshit that was a poorly written segment all together..i think honestly that realy was the point somber’s muse started to abandon him, a really good example was steelhoves in FoE his death was suden and tragic but it carried the weight of a mountain on top of it…the whole wasteland stood up and said ‘fuck no’ after that point, his death started the whole series of landslideing events leading into the stories climax.

Well I was supposed to have one big heart breaking event… there was supposed to be hard moments but nothing compared to the death I had planned. Now I have to figure out something else
tragidy is not a bad thing but what you have to wathc out for is like i said what happend with MN7, too much tragidy can cause audience fatugie, they stop careing about the charicters, its all about ballance.
My story was suppose to be far worse that it’s going to be now… had a couple people talk me out of something I was going to so in mine. But I can still make a happy story with plenty of very heart breaking moments
indeed, i liked murkey number sevens ending far beter, oh sure its a ‘hell’ of a trip geting there, pain pain and more pain but the payoffs at the end…sweet catharsis when murkey ventelates chainlinks skull oh gods that was a wonderous moment
Agreed but then I don’t think Glory could have pulled through on her own inside bjs black body… She would have cracked… Glory was many things… but when it came to BJ she wasn’t very strong willed
Edited
and theres a dark implication that even bj didnt notice…they were within the realm of influnce of the soul eater when glory died….which means she would have been caputred in the well of souls so bj actualy had a second reason for killing the damn thing she didnt even realize.
Which lead me to believe that (when I first read the story) when you first heard about glory being alive that you knew she was going to be hurting or a ghoul. If she was hurting maybe BJ would have gotten some kind of power to help her from the fusing of her and lunas soul… it made sense to me… and would have sounded awesome for BJ to get the one spell she has always wanted through out the story and it’s strong enough to bring Glory to normal at the very least… but nope… killed her twice and made readers suffer each time
that said it is true the final fourth of project horizens was a little jank, even somber admited that, he was runing out of steam by then and needed to pull it all to a close, even i with my limited expereince and abilty came up with a number of ways it could have ended beter
more tehn anything else the broad fanbase opinion is that at least ‘one’ of BJ’s love interests should have survived…what was done with glory for example was authorial cruelty at its worst…to have the audience have to expereince blackjacks heartbreak over looseing her not once, but twice…admitedly i understand the why…the second time was to give blackjack the chance to actualy properly say goodbye but that only made it worse.
glory should have lived some how, some way she should have to be frank what ‘i’ had expected when they reunited was glory looking..painfuly like her mother at that point, reconstructed from so much tech you could bairly tell there was a mare underthere, but there still ‘would’ be…and that would have been enough for blackjack by the point she was at she was beyond careing for the physical.
its to adress this problem that i suspect somber greenlit the story ‘speak’ as while not somber’s work as he has homelands to deal with, it deals with blackjacks….baggage…as its primary plot point among other things.
Which lead my to believe that she was right… She already said that she would live far beyond even Peppermint and Little Pip and voice that she would probably turn into the very thing she was fighting. At a certain point She would only have one friend left alive and that friend would not exactly be the best at keeping her calm and sane…
In the long run I feel that there could equally be some way to make her happy but not leading the story to a most likely scenario where BJ becomes the monster she was convinced she was fighting
thats because it didnt, and keep in mind that was as much luna as it was blackjack, as she said a princess cannot let her grief be seen
and what was more it was tunnel vision on BJ’s part…she had nothing left to loose, and had only one goal left in life…she had no way of knowing she would be revived in her blank body, she fully intended to die fighting the eater of souls and join glory and p21 in the beyond…one could say her death was stolen from her in that regard and her promise to glory and p21 likewise forces her to endure…she swore she wouldnt kill herself and with the war ended and peace slowly takeing hold…the chances of her finding something capable of actualy ‘killing’ her with all her battle expereince was dwindeling rapidly
hence the somewhat jaded but still careing future bj we see in the epilogue
I think everyone dying was poorly written imo… it was a lot of stress and strain on BJ but she just didn’t seem to care that much… and the more people she watched die the less she seemed to worry… it’s like as soon as Glory died everything didn’t matter to her as long as she won
yeah her soul was never moved from the blank back to her real body during the fight with cognitum just her mind was, it would require magic they didnt have to move her soul…that last scene with cognitum int he lunar base was one of the most poorly writen in the story for a number of reasons, it left alot of details out and the way they just swept poor echo [i think that was his name] aside after all he had been thru…that wasnt just tragic it was heartbreaking.
I kind of assumed that maybe because she was in her “clone” that part of her soul stayed in it and when she died in the final battle her soul wanted to repair itself and went to her clones body allowing her to live again…
which is how she ‘survived’ the final battle, how her soul retained the memories of that fight i dont know, or at least i asume it does perhaps on her way out luna droped them off…hard to say
It was more her mind, her soul staid in her black body.
It’s referenced in a later chapter.
Maybe… but this is Princess Blackjack… when she fuses her soul with princess Lunas
