I’m not on the side of the debate that believes artwork should come free.
If you provide a service of any kind, you deserve to be compensated for the time and effort you put into said service. Art is a luxury, not a necessity, thus I don’t consider it a “public service”, rather it’s a service you can chose however you want to provide it. If you want to do it out of a desire to express ideas, go ahead. If you want to be compensated for your time, that’s perfectly fair. And it’s possible to do both. But to those people that expect/demand free art/services/whatever luxury, if the situation were reversed you would absolutely expect money for your work so why would you expect anything else with others? Don’t like not getting free art? Time to learn a new skill, not everyone is a natural born artist and it’s never easy regardless of your skill level, but with time and effort you can make your own products, and sell them.
You get paid for what you know and charged for what you don’t.
If you force people to make art for free when they want to sell it then The art they make will be of lower quality, because why should they try when they get nothing out of it? Or they’ll just refuse to make any as a way of saying “fuck you” to the people who aren’t allowing them to sell it. that’s certainly what I’d do, out of both spite and a sense of obligation

Let’s not get into “who have more high moral standing” contest, ok? Making money by making fanart: sounds great. Leeching from a child cartoon by selling porn drawings of characters you don’t own in the setting you didn’t create without any permission or right: sounds no-so-great (warning: I don’t agree with that statement, but it’s still technically true). Even though both sentences describe the same thing. Things can be seen as moral or immoral depending on how you word it.
My personal thoughts on the matter: I enjoy SFW versions, but DON’T enjoy cropped/silhouetted/etc versions. Former can still be called full-blown art, while latter just just soulless incomplete garbage whose only intent is unwanted self-advertising, which dilute all other content from other artists in art galleries.

No. Some seem to imagine Loveless hasn’t released all her content through various venues for free up to an ever changing threshold because they cannot be bothered to put in the effort to search her various catalogues. I’m assuming the Soviets have a stupid ray aimed at random locations across the globe. :L
