I know, I mean, they're often used as excuse to make edgy scary characters, but in truth they come off as cheap villains, specially when people are more interested in how demented they are while ignoring other aspecs. In fact, a lot of them comes off as uninteresting because they're more often serial killers instead of magnificent bastards.

I'm kind of a history nerd, thought the first independent years are not my thing, I should learn a bit more, I just got the Santa Anna thing by investigating again. I knew he didn't spend that much time as president but I didn't remember how many periods he had as ruler.
