Unfortunately right now there’s been a consistent downturn in sales for several quarters and the movie didn’t help enough to reverse the trend. That more than anything makes me fear that Season 9 may really be the last- but as I’ve stated before, it depends on if Hasbro feels jumping to G5 WOULD either reverse the trend or slow it down. If they conclude that going to G5 would in fact cause them to lose even more sales, then they’re likely to keep G4 going instead.
Not quite. What is first and foremostly relevant for Hasbro when it decides about a continuation of the show beyond Season 9, is the income from toy sales. Particularly from sales of toys based on the movie and Season 8.
The movie is something for Hasbro to give a big push to the show and to let it become even more popular and to bring in even more money that way.
So, the movie toys and Season 8 toys (because a higher amount of sales of them shows Hasbro the movie has a significant, positive influence on the franchise) are what the fate of MLP: FiM hangs on right now.
If they get a lot of sales, Hasbro will most likely want the show to continue instead of rebooting it. And this is something everyone can contribute to. Speak with your wallet.

That doesn´t mean that we cannot discuss about a continuation.
@Sandblast
they are the bosses and it’s not up to us
Why would Hasbro try to keep something under wraps that is out of the bag already anyway?
This is really only a small thing here, nothing big. But it does give a little more reason to hope that MLP: FiM won’t see the end with Season 9.

what? nobody is right, neither am I. Transformers had a great success. but with MLP no, it’s different, the show focuses with the children and the friendship.
With great success.
And they also introduced many popular new characters.
Edited
They’ve been focusing on the same characters for nearly ten years now.
And you don´t know when it ends.
I also never said that it shouldn´t focus on the main characters.
@Background Pony #BE9E
you don’t know about that. This story is not focus with the ones you want. It focuses with things of the main characters and the friendship, and the children be interested in watching.
I agree 100% that other characters deserve revisiting. Seeing the same 6 was part of what put me off watching again.
If they were to do everything in that text I’d probably actually be interested in watching.
And I think there is a very good chance that it will.

@genervt
Imo, I don’t believe G4 will be around past early 2020’s if not sooner.
We DON`T know that.

hasbro is the boss and the writers; all hasbro shows and the toys is for money for a long time. In 2019 start the season 9 is the end, each show must have an end and is about friendship. G5 reboot will start until 2020
I just hope he doesn’t get in trouble because His mistake…
Covering a mistake he made (about giving away how much MLP:FiM is left) aside, it’s mostly the later, seeing as these tweets were done largely in response to one very vocal Starlight critic on Twitter.

He’s not wrong, really. There’s obnoxious minority groups all over the fandom that hate everything from Starlight Glimmer to Twilight Sparkle, and some have been at it since season 1. I have always personally believed that investing energy in hating things I don’t like makes me a worse person, so I don’t do it. Especially where MLP is concerned. But a lot of people are willing to complain for a very, very long time and the show staff are the people that have to bear being the targets of these people.
I don’t blame him for generalizing. A lot of the fandom needs to look in the mirror and realize how petty they look in context.
I don´t expect it to last forever, I expect it to last at least a few more seasons.
Even if you don´t like that episode you have to admit that it only one out of 26 in this season.
Maybe there will be another The Perfect Pear soon.
Edited
maybe they would sell more toys if they made them more pleasant to the eyes
even the fans plushies are better
The show can’t last forever. Ending it at the right time is for the best. I don’t Know How you manage to like Non-Compete Clause, but I’m not certainly willing too Watch MLP further if it would Mean more eps like that.
I Will just say you this: Careful to what you wish for.
