I haven’t specifically been able to find what you mentioned, but according to a montana.edu article I found the results at Antietam were largely determined by hornet and yellowjacket attacks.
It also mentions, but doesn’t identify, several foraging parties on both sides that were driven off by yellowjackets at various times.

I swear I’ve read about another minor battle that everyone expected a Confederate cavalry unit to win easily, but they ended up withdrawing because when they tried to charge through forest cover at a Union infantry position they ran into swarms of yellowjackets that routed their horses, but danged if I can remember where/when, and Google ain’t helpin’ any.
General Shelby claimed that it happened again at Okolona. According to him an attack by bees is the reason the Confederates left the field, though that seems to be an excuse for a lost engagement.
In the American Civil War the Second Battle Of Bull Run was in part decided by hornets and yellowjackets; an entire Union infantry company fell into disarray and its line collapsed because they disturbed several large nests. That’s no minor threat, underground wasp nests in that part of the country can have a hundred thousand or more of the little bastards.
That’s correct! Here is your cookie!

“…Yo, Beeatrice, how much are we charging this week?”
“YOU’RE GONNA PAY SEVEN BITS FIFTY FOR THAT!”
I know where it’s from. It’s just always fun to see semi-popular things get remembered.
Someone else got it. Specifically from Let’s destroy the Shagohod.
Sorry big pic.

She doesn’t. Luna cast a spell to temporarily remove their horns and wings at the start of the comic. She said it would be “too easy” if they had them and that they should “rough it up” like the Earth ponies.
