Other servers as well have certain rules that don’t allow people to use @everyone unless it’s an urgent notice.
And if server mods don’t actually turn them off, you can still disable it for yourself by going to the Notification settings of a server and clicking Suppress @everyone and @here.
On Discord (the messaging app, not the character) people often abuse the “@everyone” tag, thus giving everyone on the server a notification for mostly no reason, which annoys a lot of people. Thankfully, the server mods are actually able to turn it off.
