Well, Lyra and Bon Bon are some of the most popular background ponies in the show, especially compared to…well, those two couples who I honestly couldn’t remeber their names without having to look them up.
 
Now, if Derpy and Doctor Whooves on the other hand were walking around all lovey dovey then I think the bronies would have the same reaction as with Lyra and Bon Bon though.

I was a big fan of Golden Harvest and Written Script. I’m not a straight hater for being upset that they’re over. But if you want to react to what you see on the surface instead of thinking things through though, then I can’t stop you. You just look stupid though when you say things like that. Enjoying gay couples is also very strongly an LGBT subject in this fandom. There are a lot of gay Bronies who truly want to get some representation, especially in this world they love so much. A world that realistically, should be very accepting.

I couldn’t agree more. You’re right when you say that half of these mare/mare ships aren’t for being Pro-LGBT but it’s just the typical male fetish for lesbians. All you have to do is look at how stallion/stallion ships are also treated.

Well the episode at least gave an “out” for that interpretation of Lyra and Bon Bon given at the end we have the CMCs happy having each other for Hearts and Hooves Day, despite their relationship being clearly platonic. That said, the context of the duo hugging does point pretty blatantly to shipping them.

Not sure if kidding, or not. I’d find it more funny, if there wasn’t a tiny bit of truth to that.  
Generally, hetro’ pairings are less popular in the fanbase, and some fans portray almost every character as a lesbian, or in some kinda lesbian ‘ship. (Mostly ‘cause they kinda fetishize it, rather then for being pro-LGBT.) And of course, if you don’t like one of their pairings, then you’re a “homophobe,” which is getting old too.
 
To be honest, I kinda prefer they leave Lyra & BonBon’s relationship (whether lesbian, or platonic) ambiguous. I think fans whom still prefer to portray them as platonic “best friends” should be free to do so, as well. I think they shouldn’t be preasured to portray them a certain way, just ‘cause it’s “popular,” or be witch-hunted as “homophobes,” just ‘cause they don’t like the pairing.
 
Honestly, I feel Lyra & BonBon are getting a li’l “Flanderized” by that pairing a bit too much, even platonically. It’s all we ever see of them lately in fanart, (and even in the show) and I hardly ever see them separate. I’m even starting to miss the old memes about them, as all I ever see are ‘ship pics of them, and such. I honestly wouldn’t mind fanart ‘shipping them with other characters just for a change of pace.
 
I know I’ll get hassled for this, but if you like the ‘ship, that’s fine, I just don’t think it’s fair to make it a OTP, or enforce it on other fans.  
I feel the same about non-canon hetro’ OTPs too, but as I said there aren’t many of those in the fanbase.

They would react different if it was Cheerilee.

Pretty sure this is Meadow Song, he’s the one with the guitar cutie mark. Coco Crusoe has a palm tree. If so this picture is actually sinking two ships since he’s been paired up with apple fritter in the past.
 
I think I also saw Rainbow Stars with Caramel somewhere in this episode. Which would sink CaramelxSassaflash and Rainbow StarsXCoco Crusoe.
 
Keeping track of background pony ships is hilarious, it’s like everyone in Ponyville is endlessly speed dating. LOL!

I think this is mostly to do with Carrot and her guy a) having a much shorter appearance and than the little scene Lyra and Bon Bon had and not being the focus of their shot, so they’re much easier to miss, and b) Lyrabon is something the fandom has shipped since Season 1, so seeing it acknowledged on screen like this is predictably going to have a much bigger impact in the fandom than seeing Carrot on a date with… um… whoever he is. Certainly not a background pony with any real fan following, that much is safe to say.
 
If Carrot had appeared alongside Written Script, for example, I bet there would have been a much bigger reaction, since that would have meant something to at least some of the people watching the episode.
 
Plus, they were hardly the only stallion-mare couple in the episode. When there’s two dozen of one thing and one of the other, it’s easy for any individual example of the first to be lost in the whole.
