To be fair to the guy he had to take one of the hardest decisions a man could make earlier in the movie, killing your love to save countless others. But, it was all for nothing, as not only did he fail to kill Gamora, but Gamora was killed anyway and Starlord still failed to stop Thanos from getting the Soul Stone, which was why Gamora wanted Starlod to kill her. Same thing happens at the end with Vision and Scarlet Witch, this movie really tugs at your heartstringes the more you think about it.
That was truly impressive. The Avengers could have won except for when Star-Lord went REEEEEEEEEEEE over his dead waifu instead of getting revenge by stopping Thanos’ plan
Not just that “haha the bad guy wins woah” but that you firmly believe that either the heroes or villains could win, up until the very instant that Thanos snaps his fingers. A feat like that is near IMPOSSIBLE in this day and age.
I loved Infinity War for being a movie where the villain actually wins where the release date of the sequel has not already been announced.
Seeing differences between Thanos and his MCU counterpart reminds me of the characterization Ultron got in his movie. Instead of destroying humanity, he’s trying to save it…through omnicidal means.
Well, there’s one stone for each element. Going by numbers, it’s pretty even.
No matter how much resources you recover, Life/Humankind will grow so much that they will become scarce in comparison. Even now the problem is not that resources are less, the problem is that the consumers/humans are more. Erasing half of life might be a temporary solution. But it will last longer than a shitload of resources.
Seems to me that begs another question: Couldn’t Thanos use the Infinity Stones to recycle resources? recover resources rendered unusable?
Thanos destroyed half the life in the Universe because he had to. Not because he wanted to.
As he says time and again, the resources are limited for the beings living in the Universe. Now, Thanos is a smart Guy. [Forget that Shuri vs Tony crap, he’s got to be smarter than both of them combined if he’s able to somehow use the Stones to their fullest and can trace their locations accurately].
I believe that Thanos thought about creating more resources for people using the Infinity Stones. But in the end, He Couldn’t. The reason “Even with the use of Infinity Stones and Gauntlet, Thanos cannot create something out of nothing and vice versa.”
I have a couple of points supporting this. Every time Thanos has used the Infinity Stones, he has transformed one matter into another, the knife into bubbles for instance. Even when Thanos smashed Tony with that mini-moon, he used the Gauntlet to bring rubbles from around him to create it. My point being, In no scene, does Thanos create something out of nothing. Time and again the Infinity Stones are described as relics filled with unimaginable power dating to the Big Bang, that can only rule over a specific domain. Not something that can create things of nothingness, and destroy things into nothingness.
This would also explain why all the people who died because of the snap crumbled to ashes. My take on it is that people’s soul was rapped in the Soul Stone, or sucked by Soul stone, and the remnants of their physical bodies were converted into ashes.
Furthermore, Thanos seems sympathetic. Yes, he is ruthless, but only when it comes to his goal of balancing the Universe. Otherwise, he’s sympathetic. Proven by the fact he could’ve killed Star Lord in Knowhere, but he didn’t, and so on. So, we know Thanos doesn’t want to spread misery and despair. That begs another question, “Why didn’t Thanos didn’t vanish half the life from the Universe into nothingness and also erased other people of their memories?” That would’ve been far less traumatic for the rest of the living.
So, why didn’t he do that? Just vanish people out of existence and make others forget them. Because he couldn’t. My whole point is there’s a limit to what the Infinity Gauntlet could do even when it has all the Infinity Stones. And that limit is the fundamental theory about Energy and Mass They can neither be created, nor be destroyed, but can only change from one form to another.
@Salamenace
That’s why I prefer MCU Thanos, he actually doing for the “greater good”, not to impress Lady Death.
Edited
Not in the MCU he isn’t.
@Background Pony #2099
There’s a reason why he’s called “The Mad Titan”.
And because he wants to bang a hot skeleton.
Why doesn’t he use the infinite power from the stones to double the resource base of the universe instead? Can’t call a guy moral when he chooses genocide over improving what life is there.
It’s way past to be rendered spoiled, bro.
INB4 someone complains about spoilers.
Also me: HOW DARE SHE ASSISTED THE DEATHS OF SPIDEY AND MY BELOVED GROOT?!?!
I tried combining “monotone” and “overlord” but it didn’t work out as I hoped.
