The biggest issue with their species is they’re not very smart. Not stupid or mindless, like they have pony-like emotions and such, but nearly all of them simply wouldn’t be smart enough to become doctors or nurses. It’s actually not even common for them to speak or be able to read :D

She could actually work as a gastroenterologist. She’s uniquely suited to the job. That she derives additional benefits is irrelevant.
 
Being that her kind typically live inside of other creatures, it makes sense that they would be uniquely adapted for it. Perhaps they secrete anesthetic compounds and antiemetics, the better to keep a host from ejecting them before they’re ready. Could come in handy for treating a variety of ailments…
