The point is, both the toy team and the writers have been known to check the wiki for names when they need to name a character that has appeared on the show before. It’s just that the wiki has no official way of documenting that Hasbro uses fan-given names.
Most tend to only make it onto merchandise due to not every background pony getting a spotlight, like those Mad Men ponies.
“Business Saavy” for the Don Draper pony; my idea, community voted on reddit, placeholder on the wiki, ends up on a toy.
It’s happened more than most people realize. If you research all of the names of background and tertiary characters, you’ll eventually find evidence of them having originally been fan names.
That’s cool, when was the last time they adopted fandom name in official material? I feel like it’s been a few years.
