This must be just. Like. Flying ! Woohooo !
As we’re reaching to the end of FiM next season, should Scoots be able to fly or remain said disability?
I would be really upset if Scoots’ conflict with flying never got resolved.

I agree.
If Tank can fly Scootaloo should also be able to do that.
It is one of the thing I would like to see in season 9.
@cloudkicker108
To be frank, that’s a very poor reason.
Should this little girl not be allowed to play the violin beacuse ‘that’s her lot in life?’
Humans have always been helping each other push past the realm of possibility.
’Humans where never meant to fly
‘Humans will never go to space’
‘Humans will never land on the moon’
‘The speed of light will never be broken’
If we can land on the moon and make a one armed little girl play the violin, we can make this chicken fly.
One way
Or another.
@Background Pony #DBA8
Agreed.
Agreed. Seeing her comes to terms with her limitations but still striving to live a happy, fulfilling life would be just as powerful as seeing her fly for the first time, if not more.
A good evening to you.
I think she can still grow her wings.
But I think we can just agree on assisted flying.
This debate has been mature and I thank you for being a great opponent. Last time I had a debate like this I got stalked.
Anyway, I’m getting tired so I think i’ll stop.
Not when your trying to create parallels with the real world. Moreover, solving every problem with magic doesn’t make for good storytelling, no matter how much magic there is in that world.
And that would be the equivalent of Scootaloo flying with artificial assistance, which I agree is a good compromise between letting Scootaloo have that dream of hers and still acknowledging the profound impacts of physical disabilities. Giving her the ability to fly with her own wings for whatever reason, though, is no longer an analogy for prosthetics.
But equestra has magic. It’s ok to bend the rules of reality.
One day. Until then we always have robot arms.
Which is why I would be fine with Scootaloo flying with the help of some sort of artificial assistance. Her just gaining the natural to ability to fly–be it from a magic spell or otherwise–goes beyond the act of suppressing.
Perhaps one day we will be able to grow back entire limbs. But that’s still a quite a long ways off.
Edited
However, Suppressing is an improvement from nothing.
Right now. However, growing back body parts is something we can already do, no reason we must stop at organs.
Only in the most technical sense. That still doesn’t change the fact that she can’t “fly” like other pegasi her age can.
And you’ve proven my point. Suppressing is not the same as eliminating.
Growing an organ is very different from growing an entire limb.
That would be cute.
Maybe Twilight can create a technical device for her in a future episode.
After all she managed to make the Crystal Mirror work permanently with technology and magic combined.
Edited
It’s still movement.
Movement with wings is the definition of flying.
I’m also on the autism spectrum and have OCD. Prozac and Co-Quetiapine help me. They suppress the disability I have. Medicine advances ever forward
Growing back body parts is actually becoming a thing.
Again, i’d be ok with Flight assistance. That part we still agree on.
Those two are entirely different things. One implies only vertical movement, while the other indicates both vertical and horizontal movement.
Getting over a disability is not the same as removing it entirely. While drugs can treat mental disabilities, very few, if any, can actually cure them. As someone who’s on the autism spectrum, I highly doubt I will ever be able to rid myself completely of that mental disability in my lifetime. I have learned to cope with it and to keep it under control of course, but I can never make it go away for good. Scootaloo suddenly gaining the ability to fly is not an equivalent to prosthesis; that would be like an amputee growing back their limb (which is of course impossible).
Flight assistance I can go along with, but growing bigger wings with magical help is honestly just taking the easy way out.
Edited
But it’s literally the same thing according to every definition of the word.
Getting over a disability is possible today and as time goes onward, it will get easier. Mental disabilities have new drugs almost every day, and we are experimenting with robotic prosthesis for physical.
But this epsode shows how happy she could be if she can fly better.
She, ether by growing bigger wings from Twilight or Discord, or geting flight assistance would make a great epsode.
That’s hovering, not flying. Yes, she can get off the ground for a few seconds, but she’s not going to be flying circles around Rainbow Dash anytime soon.
@warc9
She’s already happy now, not caring whether or not she’ll ever fly. If she must fly, then I agree it should be with some sort of assistance. Just having her gain the ability to fly after all this time cheapens both her character and the profound impacts left by physical disabilities.
Edited
Nah, let her fly on her own. The kid deserves it.
No reason why she can’t be happier.
Ether that or give her something to fly assisted. That would also be good. We agree on that.
@warc9
She’s already pretty happy with her life, though. She has great friends and gets to have all sorts of fun with them, and her idol is very supportive and caring of her.
@warc9
Sure, but a desire alone shouldn’t give her the natural ability to fly. There’s nothing wrong with having those hopes, but at some point, you have to face the music. Moreover, learning to be content with what you have instead of always yearning for more is also very important.
@mjangelvortex
Agreed. She can have artificial assistance, but there shouldn’t some sort of magical cure that can all of a sudden allow her fly on her own power.
Edited
Me too.
I think enough’s been said on the matter. The writers will decide, however it goes..
I hope it’ll be as good as this season so far!
Or: she popped thru the clouds with her cute lil chicken wings.
Ether way, i’d say she can do it.
That was just a big jump for joy, with a little hover.
