I don’t know why they just don’t simply hire sound alike voice actors. Disney was never afraid to do that with their movies turned TV shows.
 
Also I was hoping to see Ocean Flow’s hippogriff form at some point, but then I noticed in this pic that her necklace doesn’t have an Orb fragment. She must be all in with the sea life.

Not so much taboo, but how its approached is generally considered to be something you need to do carefully. Child psychologists warn that you can’t make it look like the child’s fault, that the parents still love their kid and care for each other, etc. It also presents a non-traditional Christian family structure. As such, if its not handled right, a show could get a lot of slack.
 
Here, they buried the metaphor enough that it’s not going to trip anything up.

Is showing or mentioning a divorced couple a taboo in children media? I can understand things like death or drugs, but mentioning divorced parents shouldn’t be an issue.

I figured she had to be, so I tagged as such. On looking back at the movie screencaps with her in hippogriff form, her claws are a somewhat different color and her mane still looks more like her seapony form, but the overall design and colors seemed too close for coincidence.
