Not sure why I never responded to this, sorry about that!

I’m thinking maybe they can be swapped with each other, but it would be a difficult thing to do. Floaty-Robo ponies have an innate sense of where their various parts are at all times, sort of like their equivalent to us knowing where our hands are at all times.

Not sure on the how of swapping parts, but I know it would have to be something both parties were ok with in order to be feasible. After the swap the original owner is still innately aware of the location of their traded part, as if they’d never traded it at all.

Ah, I see! Very cool! Yeah, a datasheet for this would be great. Also; now that their parts are all floaty, can they be swapped around and stuff?

Heart is in the torso sphere, of course.

In my canon the heart is a generator for the individual’s internal magic as well as serving as a pump for their physical blood. It also works to rid the body of incompatible magics such as Dark Magic - unless that pony is suited to Dark Magic, or exposes themselves to enough of it to shut down this function - so even in a robotic form it’s still an extremely vital part.

As robots, everyone is now even better protected from bad forms of energy, given that their new bodies amplify their magical strength by a number of times, which is part of what keeps their various pieces held together in a vaguely ponylike arrangement in the first place.

Perhaps I should make some kind of data sheet for this stuff…

So, why doesn’t the heart get replaced as well? I get that they probably don’t have brain uploading, so leaving the brain alone makes sense, but the heart is just a pump isn’t it?

The heart and brain are the only original parts they have left. Even their manes and tails are bio-engineered replacements that grow at a slower rate to the originals.

An older model that still had connecting limbs and the like involved transferring most of the original body’s mass including organs, though even in the timeline where AJ gets that version instead she still holds the same opinion about her new self.

Speaking of, how exactly did the transition from organic to robot work? Is it, like, brain uploading, or did they just put their physical brains inside of the robot heads?

Definitely inspired by Rayman. I love that series and its style.

My thinking behind this is that the swap from flesh and bone to magic-powered steel goes against Applejack’s core beliefs. In her mind she and her friends are no longer who they used to be. She sees herself as a fake, and thinks her original self is dead.

She’s wrong about that ‘cus she’s still AJ and all. They still have the same souls they always did. As for applebucking, speed and a higher magic output can make up for the lack of weight involved.
