Description
Sister picture to the positivity of Rarity.
The ache in her back was gone. The slight blur in her vision was nowhere to be seen. Her back legs could buck harder than ever, and apples had never tasted better. And yet, as Applejack looked at her new self in the mirror she couldn’t help but feel the faint beating of her heart in her chest compartment, now twinned with the sensation of an ever so slight magical thrumm flowing through the underside of her shell. There was something distinctly unsettling about it, like it wasn’t quite her anymore. It was still her heart and her brain; those were the only original parts of her left, but that gave her little comfort.
Her parents were supporting her through the process of getting used to the change and Macintosh seemed happy enough with his lack of aches and sprains, but Applejack couldn’t help but think of her grandmother’s words. In return for nigh-immortality, maybe she had lost something far more important?

dude
Still just Rayman for me lol
This is exactly the kind of consideration I appreciate. Thank you!
You’re very welcome. I much appreciate the level of thought that has gone into a world of modular Floaty-Robo-Ponies. I’ve never played Rayman or Vectorman, so I was not really going to take the conversation that way, and when I saw how people were dominating the comments with obvious remarks like that, I decided to step in and ask about the lore and characters instead of the inspiration.
For Applejack it was half and half. On one side she’s a very traditionally-minded pony like Granny Smith, and she did have some reservations about the idea. On the other, all of her friends had already done it, as well as her parents (who are alive in this timeline because technology) reassuring her. They were probably what tipped the scales in favour of her making the switch. She’ll probably get used to it over time.
As for the original bodies… I haven’t decided yet. Storing them would take up a lot space and energy, but “recycling” them for the land would be a bit too grim for my liking, even if that is the most likely option. In either case there are always the older versions of the robotic bodies that one can transfer themselves into if need be. Most of these had limbs, so Applejack could at least gain back her bucking legs in spirit.
By the way, thank you so much for the interest you’ve shown in this series :D

@Background Pony #6222
Right as you may be to question the inspiration, no one’s adding anything new to the already existing handful of Rayman/Vector comments by pointing it out.
The artist has their own creative integrity as well, so it’s a sting when so many comments evidently show thoughts at face value.
If it obviously looks like Rayman you have to bear with Rayman comments, done, conversation over.
And why the characters are like this? Can you spell out hidden meaning for us, so that meaning becomes meaningless? Or maybe sharp transition of ‘unknown meaning’ to ‘meaningless’ is the meaning of this picture?

I’m aware of that. Rayman was the original inspiration for this design, but that origin makes up 10% of whats actually going on here. That’s why it annoys me that five of the pictures so far have comments about Rayman or Vectorman, which ignore the concept behind why the characters are like this.
This is literally like Rayman tho…
Are people seriously going to comment that every time I make one of these? Sorry to sound rude but I’d really prefer real comments over memes.

“That’s my pony!”
