I imagine Sunburst and Flash Sentry would have an “odd couple” / “vitriolic best buds” dynamic who drive each other up the wall with their personality differences (e.g. Applejack and Rarity) while at the same time sharing a bond through their mutual care for Flurry Heart.

That is a nice way to bring flash back without it being cringy like eqg. The nerdy and awkward wizard and the disciplined and loyal guard. They would make a great team, i can tell

They could have used Flash in FiM. They didn’t even need to make him interact with Twilight. Not that I have a thing against that. I think its totally normal and healthy that a girl Twilight’s age would have a crush on a cute guy.
 
I once had an episode idea that Sunburst would introduce Starlight to the friends he made in the Crystal Empire. Flash is also in the Crystal Empire. I thought Flash would be one of those friends and he and Sunburst shared a lot of stuff together during Starlight’s absence and she would feel left out. It did still happen in the form of Uncommon Bond. With friends that were separated for a while, it was inevitable that an episode where one introduces the other to their new friends was gonna happen.

EqG interactions between Twilight and Flash felt half-forced. So long as what interactions they have are few, reasonable, and plot- or character-relevant instead of “Hey, let’s pair them because love interest” like EqG was, I would support it.
