Last Stand.
First picture in a series of MLP movie related pictures named “Twifight”, where she stays and fights instead of running like a little biTCH.
also don’t read the comments I made a mistake

she was just pretending while shining armor did it
then shining’s horn got sombra’d, but just in time pinkie pie’s butt provided the necessary magic
9/10 youtube pony analysts will agree
I plan on releasing them and working on them one at a time though, so that each one stands on its own while being interconnected.

Well I mean… a series of images is already technically a comic.
Because that’d be difficult to draw without making this a comic.
Same thing could be asked for the movie itself to be honest.
Edited because: I didn't change anything lol
Also, goddamnit, the only things I can find of “Stormy Road to Canterlot” don’t get to any of the important bits.
I mean, I appreciate what you’re doing here just fine. Most of my argument is just… why not just have her teleport?
Alright.
Though, I am just trying to have fun with what I draw here, so I’m not necessarily bound by the rules of the official canon. Because if we all were that’d be boring.
I’ll see if the “Stormy Road to Canterlot” and the Tempest comic comment on it though. Will be a bit.

There are no scans I can find of the supplemental book, so I can’t give you one unfortunately.
Link?
I can, but it’s not headcanon. Supplemental material confirms that the orbs are anti-magical.
They’re strong but not indestructible, at least in my headcanon. I also believe that Twilight is better at magic than Cadance.
To summarise, my rules for this are:
-Cadance is less skilled/weaker at magic than Twilight, and takes longer to cast her best spells.
-The orbs are powerful but not indestructible.
-The type of shield used by the two was different, and Twilight (being the superior magician and witnessing the failure of Cadance’s spell) cast the better one.
But if our personal headcanons on how the orbs/magic work are different, we’ll never going to come to an agreement on this. Can we at least agree to disagree? We could both be using the time we’re using to argue to do something more fun and/or productive.

No, I said they’re anti-magic. If you agree they’re “strong” then Twilight’s spell fails too every time. If you don’t then Cadence’s “rushed” spell should have stopped it. You’ve backed yourself into a catch 22.
You’ve said yourself that these orb thingies are especially strong y’know, weird desert monsters aren’t know for their magic smashing abilities.
@Midnight Moon
Discussing the practicalities of magic in a kids movie isn’t a flame war… But it is pretty pathetic when I word it like that lol.
No, I’m saying when you improve magical skill it works faster too. That’s how it’s presented.
We’ve also seen Cadence use magical shields instinctually and in a rushed manner (Three’s a Crowd) and they work fine. So that still holds no merit as an argument.
And it’s not even over analyzing, you had a million better options, like the aforementioned teleporting.

@Moonatik
Yup. Flame war.
So magical skill isn’t anything like drawing skill because you improve over time… Okay.
Does this really matter? Lol, just enjoy the picture lad don’t overanalyse everything.
Except magical skill doesn’t work like that. Twilight stated she couldn’t control her teleports at all in season 1, (Ticket Master) but then in season 3 she not only could control them, but used them for choreography on a whim.
A well made drawing from 5 years ago would look better than a rushed drawing made by the same artist today.
It was also 5 seasons of in-character progress later, so arguably it could be reasoned to be MORE powerful than the CE shield…
Fair enough, but the movie shield was instinctive and rushed out. The Crystal Empire shield must’ve took practice and preparation.
Well considering that supplementary material ALSO states the Storm King’s tech is anti-magical, your not agreeing is irrelevant.
