Description

Been a while since I broke out the ol’ Prismacolor pencils, so I sat down and did this portrait of Wallflower Blush.
 
While I do like her character design and find her quite relatable, she strikes me as the LEAST COMPETENT Equestria Girls antagonist to date. Her use of the Memory Stone to erase ALL of her awkward social moments - and in effect, HERSELF - from her classmates’ memories seems to only compound the very problem she was trying to solve. To me her anger at Sunset just seems grossly misplaced.
 
Still, I’m glad she did NOT transform into a Monster-of-the-Week.

I think framing this in terms of competence is coming at it from the wrong angle. Sunset had a plan almost from the beginning, as did Gloriosa. Midnight Sparkle, Juniper Montage, and Principal Cinch all formed definite plans with strongly-conceived goals as they became aware of things. Wallflower is different in that she was purely reactive with no over-arching goal besides “don’t feel bad anymore.” She’s the very personification of someone messing with forces they don’t understand in a flailing attempt to solve their problems, only making them worse in the process.
 
Great explanation. Its like when people self medicate with drugs/alcohol only for the drugs to take over their personality. They become dependent on their new source of power/comfort tool.

Yes she is. An antagonist by definition is a character that goes against the protagonists. Not all antagonists necessarily have to be evil.
