Description

A full mock-up of one of the cards I made based on Friends Forever #26 and #27, with visual assistance provided by the majestic Phil Srobeign.

A white draw engine is admittedly stretching the color pie, but at least Blueblood provides for everyone equally. It’s just that some people are more equal than others.

Looking back on this later, the color pie shifted in this card’s favor. “White gets something that draws it a card 1/turn” is totally in white color pie now, so I withdraw my complaint.

Yeah, it’s off-color, but off-color in the way that I think it could be printed and then Mark Rosewater would write a column about it three sets later explaining how it wasn’t the best choice.

Personally, I’m most peeved about the name. I’d much rather it had been “Charming Scion Blueblood” so that Carbo Load would still be the first card I see when I launch FOME.mse

I don’t know about this one. Five cards were printed with Parley, and only two of them had any repetition (Sevala, Explorer Returned & Woodvine Elemental), and both of them were WG and both of them required using the card (Sevala had a tap ability and Woodvine went off of it attacking). This can just sit back and do nothing and just annoy the crap out of your opponent for no additional risk.

Admittedly, this is in character for Blueblood, but not in color for white. I checked and the number of mono-white cards (i.e., no multicolor, no hybrids, no off-color abilities) that can draw you cards more than once can almost be counted on both hands (Alms Collector, Armistice, Convalescent Care, Inheritance, Kor Spiritdancer, Mentor of the Meek, Mesa Enchantress, Puresteel Paladin, Spiritual Focus; Sram, Senior Edificer; Stonehaven Outfitter & Wandering Champion). And all but one of them (Armistice) are triggered abilities that either require you to cast something and/or cost extra mana, so you aren’t guaranteed it will go off each turn like this does. I’d feel a lot safer if he costed 2WU, because I’m not seeing it otherwise.
