Point. Definitely shouldn’t take anything Chrysalis says to anyone but her herself at face value, and even that may be pushing it.

There’s nothing saying that Chrysalis isn’t lying just to twist the knife. After all, only Sunset and/or Pony!Lyra would actually know either way, but as you said, no one’s actually talking to anyone now…

It may be kind of like the magic that is actuated by the will of those humans and then can be taken away.  
New feelings of love are born of old ones. If you don’t feel love to a person it would be very hard to continuously feel love but if you already loved them it’s easy and the love you felt in the beginning was born of unactuated potential.
 
So while Bon Bon could theoretically feel more love it would be very hard to bring herself to do this since the very base of her original love and her continuous feelings have disappeared like it would be difficult to produce another vanguard after the first one has been taken.

Because it’s not like the relationship can’t produce more love…
 
(Okay, it probably can’t because magic changelings mumble mumble look over there! Otherwise, the whole sadistic angle doesn’t really work. I’m just frustrated because there’s an admittedly good reason for no one to communicate in all of this.)
