Those hazy days I do remember
We were running still
Had the whole world at our feet
Watching seasons change
Our roads were lined with adventure
Mountains in the way
Couldn’t keep us from the sea
Here we stand open arms
This is home where we are
Ever strong in the world that we made
I still hear you in the breeze
See your shadows in the trees
Holding on, memories never change♪
Well, I never knew that! The more I learn.
Americans do, quite a bit… mostly because that’s what we’ve got the most of. The eastern mountain range of the US, the Appalachian Mountains, are very rich in coal.
Edit: though for what it’s worth, we’re phasing it out more and more as time goes on. Gotta give my energy company, Dominion, some credit… they are putting forth a legitimate effort to incentivize clean tech.
Edited
Refineries also use enormous amounts of energy to make the gas so the argument that “your electric car isn’t clean because it gets its energy from coal” is a red herring.
I’m awfully late to the party, but that’s not completely true. While electric cars charge from the grid and the electrical grid is still dirty, even electrical grids are still dramatically, dramatically cleaner than gasoline cars. This is both because electric cars convert energy into locomotion at a rate MUCH more efficient than that of a car’s engine converting gasoline (in which process MOST of the generated energy is wasted as heat) and also because for gasoline to even get to your car, it has to be shipped extremely long distances at no small carbon cost itself. Oil tankers generate a huge amount of carbon.
Electric cars are only as clean as the energy they use, that’s true. But they are MUCH better than the alternative and only get better as the electrical grid is upgraded with better sources.
Listen to the trees
Listen to the spirits of the Earth
Begging us please
Stop listening to greed
Listen to the rivers
Listen to the sea
Listen to the spirits of the deep
Begging us please
Stop listening to greed
She sent the drought to warn us
She sent the storms to scold us
But we don’t listen
We burn and we break
And we take and we take
And we take
Till it’s too late
Oh where did the beasts go?
Where did the trees go?
Where will man go
When he has lost
The heartbeat
beneath his feet
Oh this is our home
She gives us home
Mother Earth
Can’t you feel
Her heartbeat
Beneath your feet
Heartbeat
Beneath your feet
Heartbeat
Beneath your feet
Listen to the animals
Listen to the trees
Listen to the spirits of the Earth
Begging us please
Stop listening to greed
Listen to the rivers
Listen to the sea
Listen to the spirits of the deep
Begging us please
Stop listening to greed
Listen to the animals
Listen to the trees
Listen to the spirits of the Earth
Begging us please
Stop listening to greed
Listen to the rivers
Listen to the sea
Listen to the spirits of the deep
Begging us please
Stop listening to greed
Sorry
Canada’s Terrance and Phillip is responsible to at least 90% of the whole global warming problem, you should apologize in behalf of your country.
Well, too bad.
uh, sory didn’t saw this.
I live in Germany, we left the Nuclear technology behind… a horrible mistake in my opinion, because of 2 reasons.
This argument is an excellent deflection. Refineries use electricity too. So do gas stations, and gas has to be transported by truck and train, which use fuel that comes from the refinery.
I see what you talking about.
Thorium as opposed to uranium fueled nuclear reactors produces significantly less waste (which is already small with conventional methods.) It is also much more abundant, cleaner, and is fertile for use when mined. The molten salt aspect is mostly technical, but it hosts some advantages like its safety features.
You don’t necessarily have to worry about people using this for bombs as well if that’s a concern.
what is that
We need thorium liquid fuel reators! Then we have the same productive capacity of clean energy that most fossil fuels have.
Where even do you live? Because in here our government is in charge of developing nuclear power generators.
Blame the anti-nuke NIMBYs for that.
that won’t do shit. Electric cars are as clean as the power they are charged with.
and coal is still the majority used for Power generation. instead of the far cleaner, more efficent Nuclear Reactors.
Nuclear Power is the best we have, but we just ignore it because noone seems to work on it anymore… about all reactors used are still 90s designs…
Morale of the the story is that politicians have their heads too far up their own asses for anything positive to get done correctly and in good time.
Humans certainly give a shit. We’re just focused on the wrong ways to fix this. Our ocean is still full of plastic and we haven’t noticed because we’re too busy trying to clean up above-ground pollution when we should be focusing on the ocean first because that’s an even bigger factor than greenhouse gasses. Doesn’t help that the alleged “Leader of the Free World” thinks climate change is a scam by the Chinese, which I’m fairly certain does not actually reflect the opinion of the majority; the minority is just louder.
