Yeah, agreed.
As for the ’80s/’90s show/s the animation was sometimes bad, and sometimes good depending on which overseas animation studio was used. TMS usually made the best overseas animation.

I’m not sure if this is relevant, but that expression was not animated very well, even if the expression itself is drawn ok.
Didn’t mean it that way. They’re actually something I really like about the show. Kinda helps add humor, and keeps the ponies from always looking too sarcarine, or “cutesy.”
It’s ironic some G1 fans actually demonize G4 for that considering G1 has it’s fair share of goofy cartoony expressions, and sight gags too
