I think that’s why Gestalt was so happy this all got resolved. If Goldstone hadn’t been so successful at rallying the others to his cause, I’m pretty sure he would have just traded it in for a couple of political favors right away.
That, and the extra work involved in drawing them in the first place.
Huh. Didn’t know that. Is it an issue with making them move convincingly along with the character?
I think that in the long run, the Griffonstone griffons are lucky they lost their chance to grab half of Equestria. It would have finished them if they did.
They would have seized control of half of a developed nation with extensive infrastructure that would require a LOT of wealth to maintain. Wealth I strongly suspect they just don’t have, given the appearance of Griffonstone in the show. The griffons would most likely bankrupt themselves trying to manage it all.
And that’s supposing they were able to persuade the ponies – especially the educated professionals, technicians, skilled labor, and everyone else needed in such a society – to stay behind rather than up and leave. And if they refuse to leave and try resisting somehow, there’s more resources down the drain. And that’s if the griffons win.
For that matter, what about other Equestrian neighbors? Like the Dragonlands? In the comic we’re told that 90% of their gemstones come from Equestria; are they going to sit idly by while their food supply collapses? Why not march, er, fly in and take it? What about countries that prefer a peaceful Equestria over a suddenly expansionist Griffonstone as a neighbor?
The comic could never go into any of that for some very good reasons, but maybe some fan artist/writer could.
Spots tend to be hard to animate if I’m not mistaken.

Heh. Twice. Just twice. That’s funny.
They’re only following the movie’s example! :^)The comics did establish some law though that magic couldn’t be used against living creatures, or somethin’?
From what they said earlier about Gestal, he must be delighted to be so easily rid of this fool.
Lord Gestalt straight up says his acts are of treason. So yes, and he’s getting thrown under the bus for it.
Anyone can write a bad story but only IDW can do it twice.

It’s a huge event, there’s likely a large crowd about one room away. Like to see him try and destroy the evidence with about a hundred witnesses around.
Oh right this. Because letting a bunch of outlaws destroy property and assault townsfolk is so much better than just laying a magical smackdown on them and throwing them in jail.
I think a lot of readers try not to remember.
yep, by the respectable Griffon lords every single one of them gets a piece of him.

What a sad showing.
Oh, right. How could I forget?
