What happens here is that the new characters can make similar mistakes but have the Mane 6 show their knowledge to steer them right to show their development. Meanwhile, the Mane 6 DO still have problems they can explore and try to fix as well, but not so much that they can really carry a season alone anymore. They’ve matured too much.
