Most soldiers perfered the older Colt revolvers as they did not rely on semi auto self loading pistols. They were scared that the 1911 would jam.

The Colt M1911A1 was the standard issue sidearm of the United States military for nearly 80 years. It fires .45acp but can also fire the magnum form of the same Calibre. It has a reliable frame and firing system and is unlikely to jam. Most of these weapons are sighted for 50 yards, which is the weapons accurate range, much like most handguns.
