That’s where appliance ponies are different than regular appliances. On one hand their sentience and emotion lets them be self-sufficient and provide company, companionship, and affection, but on the other hand they have wants and needs as well. It’s definitely a big responsibility to purchase them :D

Speaking of object pony ideas, I’m surprised there aren’t any computer/laptop ponies yet. (That I’m aware of.)
Lots of robots or software like Elkie and the browser ponies, but I don’t think I’ve seen a pony with an integrated screen and keyboard yet.

Making them look little and effeminate is an intentional design choice to make them cuter and encourage people to buy them :D
