Sure, but Ali’s Rope-A-Dope strategy in The Rumble In The Jungle was a strategy, which meant he was not only doing it on purpose, he always had other options in case he wasn’t able to keep dodging the long punches and taking the close-ins on his forearms and gloves.
Muhammad Ali’s most famous fight was won when he let the guy beat him up. His opponent was so tired out by the end of it that Ali was able to knock him out with a single punch.
