Then Twilight stared into Tempest’s eyes, and reorganised her brain into a library. Before she left the purple alicorn planted a little Christmas Tree of Harmony to expand her knowledge ||to a level that would have destroyed her sanity in the process ||.
The face of Twilight at the bottom of the picture was the exact face that she made when she entered Tempest’s mind.

That’s basically what’s happening during her “lucid” moments, but otherwise she’s just happy and virtually thoughtless, barely aware of what’s happening unless it relates to a task she’s been given
That’s a nice story that at least needs a resolution. Well done!

But then again this is a world of fantasy and magic, for all we know since the soul is trapped inside or possibly do to an intentionally engineered effect of the orbs they might remain conscious, while being completely unable to move, essentially trapped in a living hell. The perfect prison

I’d think it does, when the petrification is caused by means of magic (I’m not sure what else) and also turns your brain to stone, also apparently shutting off consciousness.
She’d be a guard, alright. Out of fear of that happening again…
After all, once you get turned to stone and back to normal, doing so cancels magic spells.
