In the end I like it as well, mostly due to the fact it makes things look a lot cleaner.  
In my imagination and rough line work I have the panties going up to her waist as it is were my wife wears her panties. I imagine a larger band with something akin to a bra hook at the top of the panties under her shirt which would allow for easier tail accommodations compared to pulling it through a hole or the like.

I do like this one better. I prefer it better the less details that are seen through the panties.
 
I also like that these are decent size panties. It’s hard to tell how wide the bands are, but it looks good.

I don’t really get the obsession with the “barely exists” panties either myself. I suppose it’s exciting every now and again, but I tend to like the more normal and bland looking ones the majority of the time. Even IRL I get way more form seeing my wife in her normal everyday panties than anything else.
 
I don’t tend to do much normal art anymore since I’m waist deep in asset creation most of the time. If this gets well received I may try and dedicate some time to trying to make a couple more, and actually posting the source files so people could get them made if they wanted.

Awesome! I wish we could see more fan art where the panties cover the butt perfectly as opposed to exposing as much cheek as possible.

Don’t know why they were bothered by it.
