And just like that, Urtica joins the short list of comic characters I really wanna see in the show. (The others on that list, so far, are Tiberius and Kibitz.)
In Urtica’s defense, I’m willing to bet that at least a few entries in that “long history of dragon culture” is just them sleeping in a cave for a century or two.
And I do like the idea of the dragons seeing everyone else as being a parvenu next to them. Of course their noble and ancient culture seems to consist of stealing everything they can, burning everyone who resists, and then sleeping it off for 300 years, wash-rinse-repeat.

Well, the only comics that are officially recognized as canon are the prequel movie comics and the ones that specifically tie into season 7 (Shadow Play and the LOM series) the rest might be or might not. Depending on if the Show contradicts it or doesn’t.
As for the comics retconning themselves IIRC they already retconned some if not all of the Reflections arc (it might have been another one though) because they changed how long Starswirl was around to coincide with season 7.
@Dustcan
Hard canon is overrated. They could come up with a completely different history for them and the answer to ‘which is canon’ would still be ‘both of them’.
You don’t have to make things complicated. The comics are canon but they’re kind of Class B kind of canon while the show is Class A. As long as the comics don’t contradict the show, the stuff they have in it is canon.
@Magic Man
Let’s all remember that the comics are not 100% canon. The changelings’ origin story as portrayed in the comics is not necessarily their backstory in the show - the show can quite easily do something different if it wants.
Yes, according to the comics the changelings’ backstory started with Chrysalis and therefore isn’t very diverse, but as far as the show goes the changelings’ culture could have been something different before Chrysalis’s reign.
For one example, what if the changelings were multicolored fairy bugs from the getgo, but Chrysalis took over and corrupted them some amount of centuries ago? There are many ways things could be portrayed.

Yeah the edit option goes away after a while. The site just does that. I think it might be so people who are abusing the comments and/or are breaking the rules will have a harder time pretending that they weren’t doing that kind of stuff. But I could be completely wrong with my guessing.
I think you’re right too. The Changelings don’t really have much. Not to mention they’re still trying to readjust and create a new culture and life for themselves.
