This too. Getting Hearths Warming gifts for your favourite tech-obsessed friends is a pain in the 42nd Millennium.
To be fair though it’s actually necessary since whenever they “rush” new stuff (AKA new ships design goes from theory to production to use within 200 years) it turns out that the geometry of the Deck 97D tertiary quartermasters mess toilet is actually a demonic rune and all of the ships get turned to Chaos within the first decade of use.

Fun fact: The Mechanicus CAN make new stuff without an STC.
…The problem is the approval process for non-STC items is so long, overwrought, tedious and overall horrible that most just don’t bother. In typical IOM fashion, approval can take CENTURIES.
