‘Do be safe, little ones.’

Download for the full-res. Little details are killer, man, especially the fence/lighthouse. After many, many hours Fluttershy the carrier is finally squared up and is the second in what is most likely going to become a series. The KanColle carrier girls normally launch their little planes with a bow and arrow, but Flutters uses segmented runways and catapults on her wings to send her little magic plane buddies skyward. I figure the planes are much like Tachikomas and operate on their own without a pilot. So magical.I’m thinking Celestia would make a great battleship, myself and will probably take her on next. Most of the hours here were spent redrawing and learning though, so that’s always good. These ship pons give me everything I need to practice, man: composition, atmosphere, perspective, painting… it’s good stuff and a lot of fun to boot. I just need to put a lot into each one, is all. I sure hope you like her and I got the YouTube timelapse(s) right here if you’d like to check it out. Have a good one!Part I

EDIT: Fixes a couple shadows on the metal bits and the far land mass as well as the direction of the windsock. Thanks for the help guys!

Everything else is cool, but I really wish she didn’t have that bandage on her face. I hate those things, and it cuts my enjoyment of the picture by about 75%.

Fluttershy’s right wing hurt. Hours of continuous launches and recoveries could do that to an aicraft carrymare, especially when some of the younger hotshots landed harder than she would have liked. But the operation, she had been assured, was important. Its success would end the war, and ending the war would save millions of lives.

The bandage on Fluttershy’s muzzle itched. She scrunched at it. Enemy pilots had learned she had no high-mounted anti-air defenses, and one had even scored a direct hit to her face during a successful raid; she had considered, briefly, requesting an AA headband to complement the band of cannon turrets on her right foreleg. The thought was abhorrent, though. She could deal with a few stings and some itchy wounds. The enemy pilots wouldn’t be so lucky if she… well, defended herself.

So for this last phase of the operation, after a long flight over open seas, Fluttershy had chosen a pleasantly quiet spot of mountainous shoreline to hide behind. For the sake of every life involved, she would try to stay out of the way while the pilots she carried did their work.

Maybe when this was over, she could retire and apply for a refit. A lot of her friendships wanted to settle down and become museums once they no longer needed their full military kit, but while education was very useful, Fluttershy had thought about what she’d seen. War was bloody; war hurt too many people. Hundreds of thousands needed medical treatment at any given time. So when she got her chance, Fluttershy hoped she could get a hospital fit. She could dramatically cut down emergency transport or resupply times by just flying wherever she was needed, and she could finally put the angry ghosts behind her eyes to rest.

Until then, she would ignore the soreness in her wing. It was worth it.
