I find the term “raripants” far more amusing than I should.
 
I now support said ship for that reason alone.

Mad theory: Rarity wants to date Fancy Pants who recently broke up with Fleur, so she encourages a slight crush on her sister’s part for Spike in hopes of diverting Spike and keeping things from getting awkward between them while she pursue Fancy Pants. Fleur finds out and sabotages Sweetie Belle’s date with Spike in hopes of keeping Spike focused on Rarity thus complicating her attempts to woo Fancy Pants because Fleur wants her back.
