Dumb plots doesn’t mean it won’t be a joy.
I think it’s less about seriousness and more like “All this stuff you can do, and you do this?”
To be somewhat appropriate to this premise, it’s like going to a candy shop with every possible confection you could think of and buying a candy bar you could get at a gas station. Nothing wrong with it, but why go for that?
Again, it’s MLP, not Game of Thrones, something a bit pointless isn’t going to kill anyone.
The fandom should take the fact that they do serious comics as a blessing of the highest degree.

I think this could be a fun one off, and we do at least have two more LoM issues for stories that couldn’t be told outside of the setting. I think some people take issue with a story that easily could be, and thus see it as wasted potential because they could have done something that used the world better.
Though given Rice’s last story, not sure if I want some reason for this boycott to be connected to Equestria’s lore…

And though I agree it could be done better, I’d also like to remind everyone real quick; it’s My Little Pony, not Dark Souls. There’s going to be some mediocre stories for the sake of a message or moral.
I just hope if they give Octavia dialogue, she isn’t made out to be some unreasonable bitch.

I’m 99.99% positive that historical event and the plot of this comic story are not related in the slightest. This comic premise just comes off as boring and pointless when working with a setting like Equestria. It comes off pretty much like what @kleptomage is saying.
I feel like the main series is scraping the bottom of the barrel.
