Net Neutrality isn’t about Freedom of Speech, it’s about many ISP’s and Broadcasting companies wanting people to have to pay extra to visit certain sites, and people hosting sites having to pay extra for more bandwidth.

That’s nice and all but kinda off topic. As far as power goes you should look into the massive overreach via executive actions that the last bunch of presidents have done. Trump isn’t done with his term(s) yet so I will reserve judgement on how active with executive actions he is. Also I usually read numerous sources on a single topic before trying to go to the source material if possible. Considering how majority of websites and media companies have such a hard left leaning view I would hardly say I’m reading protrump propaganda. If i read 10 different articles on a topic from 10 random sources chances are that at least 9/10 will be left leaning organizations, it is just the nature of the business due to the geographic locations of where they are based as much as it is agenda. I was only making an observation that is clear if anyone steps back from politics can see. I am under no illusion that voting is currently working due to the corruption currently in place. You should at least recognize though that even though social media is a ‘weapon’ as you say it is also very dangerous. Its like giving a chimp a gun everything might be fine or it might end up going off and killing the wrong guy. People are easily convinced of things, often lies are more readily accepted than truths, for example. Governments all over the world have manipulated public opinion since the dawn of civilization, don’t you think that social media might actually be the most efficient and effective way to do just that? If you really want to understand the current political situation about this you should actually look into Julius Caesars conquest of Gual, he used the same divide and conquer methods to manipulate people as what is happening today.
 
You also forget that the net was governed by different federal agencies and got move around in a power grab. I suggest you look into that. It is important because how the different bodies work and what thier authority is.

Please stop reading news from Trump propaganda websites or public news which anyone with an IQ over 20 knows is government controlled in the USA.
 
I find it ironic that people are quick to scream: “Conspiracy theorist!” at anyone who bats an eye and questions the suspicious actions our government takes at times but when shit hits the fan or something happens that NO ONE likes that the government was responsible for, the president gets tossed the blame and everyone blindly believes it.
 
Obama was the first president since John Kennedy to assert their fictional power into REAL POWER by taking his actions to a public face every time he made a move to make changes for the better of our country.
 
Oh I’m sorry, you actually thought presidents had real power?  

 
Of course they don’t! Because if they did, our country would have been dead before Obama ever got into office thanks to Richard Nixon. The catch however is that while our government does retain the real power, it has always been to feed their means to an end and RARELY has it ever benefited anyone outside of the government politician’s families.
 
Go ahead, take a look at our line of governors who represent the states, you’ll notice that ALOT OF THEM are the sons and daughters of the previous governors of said states.
 
 
Getting on topic however,  
You are right about the government controlling our internet yet there is one thing you are mistaken about:  
Our voice as a country.  
Believe or not, we DO have power to make change happen but not by “voting”. No, our weapon is social media and trust me, the government has regretted allowing this come into existence since the day that the newspaper was invented.
 
Social media is the weapon against ignorance that the government uses as their weapon to control this country. Net Neutrality was ORIGINALLY just a “unspoken rule” until enough of us made our opinions known at which point the FCC(Or more specifically, a few select people within) Pushed an official document through to make it a legit thing before the government realized what it really was and could squash it.
 
Naturally, once integrated into the USA’s law, they couldn’t touch it without a backlash from the country as a whole, since those of us who know our government, have our eyes on them and would make it publicly known the moment they tried to remove it. Hence why we even know they’re trying to get it removed in the first place.
 
TL;DR: Our US government is a corrupt piece of shit that depends on our ignorance to control us.

Ok.

It didn’t go directly to the U.N. it went to a California based nonprofit, ICANN, officially. But it is now under ‘international oversight’. Basically most people worry about companies charging more or throttling data. Unfortunately, that is about the least of everyones worrys because the Internet is essentially a monopoly now, privately owned and governed. Your rights do not apply, your desires do not matter. They can do whatever they want now because there is no competition for the internet and it is no longer under U.S. protection or governmental regulations. I’d give it a few years and the net will change. The nonprofit may decide to become for profit and screw everybody or may sell it, probably to the Chinese if current trends continue.
 
Personal politics aside, and just as a neutral observation. It is ironic that the guy that everyone loves to praise ruined it for everyone, thanks Obama. And ironically the guy that everyone loves to attack and demonize was completely against this plan from the start and was trying to stop it. I’m of course talking about Trump. Say what you will about the two of them but it is interesting to see the supposed ‘defender of the net’ kill it while the medias favorite punching bag actually tried to do the right thing and nobody noticed.

Net neutrality actually died when Obama illegally gave control of the internet to the U.N. shortly before leaving office. This is why companies like Facebook and Google are suddenly being sued for ‘hate speech’ in places like Germany for criticism of Merkel or the EU etc etc. It is also very dangerous because if European countries can dictate terms of what can be posted then so can countries like China who have some of the worst track records for internet freedom.
 
If you really gave a crap about the fate of the internet you would have been outraged by obamas actions when they happened. Instead there was a whole lot of silence from most of the Internet.
 
At this point you need to understand this has became a partisan issue of the powerful, and you are being used and lied to to keep a supposedly neutral net by the rich and the powerful to continue to bend the average user over a barrel. It is never presented as this though it is usually presented as if the opposite is true. The unfortunate truth is that if you look at current law about the internet it becomes clear that current ‘net neutrality’ is more about control of the net by a small group of the elite and less about neutrality or freedom.
 
There are a ton of misconceptions and lies being circulated every time this comes up, don’t just parrot talking points, actually look at past and current legislation and future potential impacts. And don’t just go to a posted info graphic of assumptions, agenda, lies or the plethora of othe bs, actually read the damn bills. If they are confusing then brush up on legal terminology and definitions. It is your duty as a citizen to be informed. Don’t be a useful idiot.
