Moon Dancer has Twilight to promote her and Starlight as a campaign strategist. Bon Bon needs all of the help that she can get. Having a man on the inside is a good idea.
The alternative would be for Bon Bon to make Moon Dancer disappear.
Also… did Bon Bon intentionally do this, because this is a rather dirty move on her part if she asked Spike hoping he wouldn’t know yet. Bon Bon was with Moondancer when they applied and she knew enough that Spike and her were roommates. If she did this intentionally, it is a really low move by Bon Bon, whom I had been enjoying watch progress in this series.
Bonbon is pretty smart. Asking Spike to be her promoter is ingenious.
