When Ember gets invited by her friends from Ponyville to celebrate Nightmare Night, she dresses up as former Dragon Lord Scintilla, who was the first dragoness to seize the throne.
The ponies are a bit put off by her costume and Twilight and Spike are more than a bit disturbed when Ember casually details the extreme violence of this Dragon Lord, from her habit of wearing the severed heads of her enemies as a hat and drinking out of their skulls to the pointless wars she started over the slightest infractions and her untimely death.

Well, dragons still toss their kids out of the lair when dragon puberty hits (‘You have wings and smell like dinner? Have fun trying to survive everything out to eat you, see you in a year or so if you’re still alive.’). So they’re not completely wimps yet.
