My primary question is, how are Dinky Hooves and Crackle Pop faring emotionally?

Finally got the Blu-ray/DVD, and, having studied the sequence, it’s obvious that Derpy’s attempt to save Twilight was, ultimately, meaningless; there was a rainbow streak before Derpy was hit by the orb, so she didn’t stop it from hitting Rainbow Dash and/or Twilight. Her frozen form did distract Tempest and co. for a few seconds, but it looks highly unlikely that those few seconds were of any benefit in their escape.

Sigh.

Also remember for a few moments they thought they had gotten Twilight. Possibly those few extra moments helped her escape.

Well, no. What I’m curious about is, did she block that petrifying orb from hitting Twilight and/or Rainbow Dash, or would Dash have been too fast for it even if Derpy hadn’t been there?

Derpy’s definitely a hero for her attempt to save Twilight and deserves to be celebrated as such, but do we really have confirmation that she made any difference?
