they did pretty well initially, and that was 5 seasons ago, twilight didn’t even have wings. they should be more than capable now.

just fly over them, use explosive/fire attacks and dodge their weapons, and again I repeat that the only reason they lost was due to plot mandated incompetence
They didn’t “put” Derpy there to serve as a distraction, and Dash didn’t have time to get them both.

Magic-resistant armor, for starters.
They aren’t actually very powerful at all.
And they eventually lost to that same army.
The storm creatures were better equipped, for one.
With actual weapons and magic repellent armor.
