There is not much reference to compare to (mostly anthro and human). I think it’s the biggest “something-chest” we’ve got so far, thus the confusion. If I had to guess, BigDad tries to draw pony Rarity similar to anthro/human Rarity (who is very gifted by nature), since the resemblence. If it’s just an optical illusion … well, he might be too good at it! XD
