Back to trying to push my facial rig as far as I feel comfortably doing. How does the smile look to you guys? I personally think the shape of the grin is fine, but the folds and creases might not look quite right… Not sure. If you guys agree I might consider doing another re-topology pass to the face. This is something I’m especially concerned with Pinkie Pie. if I can’t make her do crazy faces, then she’s no Pinkie Pie.

Here’s just a couple of ideas to get you started:  
  1. Smart Cookie and Chancellor Puddinghead from Hearth’s Warming Eve  
  2. Pinkie Pie finds Applejack at the cherry orchard in The Last Roundup  
  3. Pinkie Pie wants to look inside the barn, but Applejack won’t let her in (Party of One)  
  4. Maybe something from Hearthbreakers? Not sure if there’s a scene with just the two of them and nopony else in the same room.
     
    Surprisingly, I couldn’t find any other Pinkie Pie/Applejack-exclusive scenes in the series, and I searched all the episodes and all the transcripts.

It’s something I’d like to do, though I’m not sure what clip I’d use to base the animation on. Did you have something in mind? Mainly just looking for some interaction just between these two characters and nopony else.

Getting somewhere I think, though I will still have to overcome some technical hurdles that I still don’t know how to fix after implemeting a different method of deforming the mouth mesh for smiling.

The shape of the grin definitely looks good (as does Pinkie overall), but I see what you’re saying. Based on some of Pinkie’s bigger smiles in the show perhaps the cheeks could use a little upward adjustment? That’s my best guess on what might help.
